ROBERT G. (BOB) PRITTIE 1931 - 2020 Bob Prittie passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 14, 2020. Best friend and husband of Shirley (née Gerhart) for 62 years. Bob was also a devoted and loving father to Bill (Nancy), John (Kellie), Tom, Ted (Kriszta), and adoring brother to Suzanne Jarvis (Geoffrey). He was an ever-proud Grandpa to Ryan and Rob (Newmarket), Sarah, Jake and Maggie (Napa California), David and Adam (Budapest). Bob was born and raised in Toronto and educated at Pickering College in Newmarket. On graduating from Queen's University, he joined Midland Securities. Over 60 plus years in the investment business, Bob earned the respect of his colleagues and clients alike while making many good friends along the way. When he finally retired in 2015, he had a reputation as one of the most respected people on Bay Street. Bob was a generous, loving person with a wonderful sense of humour and a passion for family and friends. In his later years, he became a dog lover and enjoyed reporting on their antics to his grandchildren. He enjoyed many summers and his few retirement years in Muskoka on his beloved Lake of Bays. Bob's ashes will be interred in his adopted home of Baysville, Ontario. A celebration of life will be held in Baysville, Muskoka next summer. Donations in Bob's memory can be directed to the: Robert and Shirley Prittie Bursary Fund at Pickering College, 16945 Bayview Avenue, Newmarket, ON L3Y 4X2 Att: Ann Smiley. Bob remained a lifelong champion of the school as a way of giving back for the positive impact his early education had on his life. The bursary provides tuition for disadvantaged students to attend Pickering College. One of Bob's favourite quotations: It is my joy in life to find At every turning of the road, The strong arm of a comrade kind To help me onward with my load. And since I have no gold to give, And love alone must make amends, My only prayer is, while I live, God make me worthy of my friends.
